Has anyone ever gone to the Court House when the foreclosure happens? I am interested in how this process works.
If you see a foreclosure notice in the paper you will see instructions for bringing a certified check and closing instructions. Usually you must bring a check for 10% of the sale price, though it’s hard to do when the sale price is not determined until the end of the sale! Just show up at the appointed time, register with the representative for the attorney, and bid on the property. The first bid will be from the bank or lender that is doing the sale. This will cover what is owed. After that it is open to anyone. Generally the attorney will want a closing in 15 days. That’s pretty much what happens.
