Hester’s Melting Pot coming to Jefferson Avenue

Anyone know what this is going to be?
I just saw the new sign for this place on my way to work this morning. What’s the word??
Yeah, a short life span.
it’s a combination fondue/guy-who-drives-an-old-station-wagon-with-little-toys-glued-to-the-seats-to-lure-kids restaurant.
Sigh. The owner chose this bu11$h!t over a neighborhood grocery that wanted to move there? I have one rule of thumb when it comes to fondue — fondon’t.
To #4. I don’t know the restaurant, the owner, or you, but calling someone a child molester is straight up slander unless you have some proof. Or are you
“just joking” so it must be OK.
slan·der (slndr)
1. Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person’s reputation.
2. A false and malicious statement or report about someone.
If it’s a fondue place it’s bound to fail, but at least the dude is giving it a shot. What was the building doing before the current owners plan?
Hester _Prynne_? Sounds sinfully good to me.
Do we have any proof that this is a fondue restaurant? Seems like a bad idea if it is but just because it has “Melting Pot” in the name doesn’t mean fondue. In fact that might be the worst name for a fondue restaurant because of possible trademark issues with the more well known chain.
since there is an actual melting pot restaurant, for which I used to work, I find it hard to believe that he would be able to open a “Melting Pot” with the same name and it be Fondue as well. I could be wrong, but i’m sure there is some trademark violation if indeed he is doing fondue. (I’m no lawyer.)
Second, I think the “fondue” speculation is just that. How do you know this isn’t the “grocery” that was originally planned? Has anyone asked?
OMG, Alex, we both posted this at basically the same time (your post wasn’t moderated when I posted.)
So right, I can’t imagine that would fly as a Fondue Restaurant by that name.
If what #5 said is true, then I at least hope the grocery store person will check out the old Sunny Market on N. 25th St. It might be too much space for him or her, but I would imagine the rent would be somewhat cheap since the building has been vacant for at least 3 years now. Plus, I think the proposed dialysis center at that building has stalled since I haven’t seen any activity there lately. The last activity I can find was a Zoning Conformance letter for a medical office use that was applied for back in October 2010. Also, since it’s on 25th St, he or she would be eligible to apply for Bon Secours $50,000 SEED money.
Perhaps this is the market they have been talking about. Maybe “melting pot” refers to the variety of things that they had planned to carry. Just a guess.
Of course, it might be hard to compete with the ghetto mart down the road a ways. Sure, it’s sketchy, but they have a surprising beer selection and it’s always hopping.
@Magneto Just to clarify, the Bon Secours SEED Program is $50,000 total for grants not to exceed $10,000 each (with rights reserved by the selection panel to increase in exceptional cases).

According to the owner, this building is still for lease. The new sign was installed/painted for a special event.
Well, the new store coming on 27th told me they will be carrying local produce and organic natural foods in their shop! That’s what I’m waiting and looking for!
Temporary event? Weird idea. Hopefully we get something permanent there soon.
#4 must be ed from mamma zu with some oil in him. no wait… he needs no oil.
@ #4 (ed), that creepy guy with the station wagon and the crap glued into it has sold that station wagon and doesn’t appear to be driving anything now. That guy is a jerk, by the way.
Was the new signage approved by CAR?
i kept waiting to see what the “special event” would be, but must have missed it. maybe it was the same night as the grand opening of ralph’s!
either way i noticed the “hester’s melting pot” sign is no more. now what?
