Awesome!! Can’t wait to visit!!
They also have delicious fresh breads available. Flour Garden baguettes and also sandwich bread. Not to mention HOMEMADE butter!
I went there twice yesterday, and am a big fan of having such a nice shop that I can walk to.
Rob and I went there yesterday – decent selection of produce from local farms, local eggs, organic milk, lots of other organic/natural products and groceries. I had the Plantation, while Rob had the Winchester sandwich, both of which were amazing. Homemade danish and carrot cake for dessert were very delicious. My dream of a decent grocery store in Church Hill has finally come true!
Just had an AMAZING lunch from House of Homemade!!! A prosciutto, arugula, goat cheese and fig spread sandwich; quinoa kale side salad; and a fresh cookie. Absolutely fantastic – I hope people will come to House of Homemade and see for themselves.
Stopped by last night on my way home. It’s great to have a place that sells nice produce and fresh salads, breads and other stuff, all within walking distance. I’ll definitely try the butter next time.
I wish these guys the best of luck and lots of community support.
Just had a super-delish black-bottom cupcake for the reasonable price of $1.50. I may have to go back tomorrow for one of their super-chocolate ones. I’m also excited to try the fresh breads and produce. How awesome to be able to run to the bakery for fresh bread right before dinner! The place looks good, guys!
They are selling organic milk!! I am so thrilled! Can’t wait to stop by and check it out. Best of luck!
It’s official–Church Hill is trying to make me fatter.
My husband and I just shared the Winchester – wow, that was definitely one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! So happy to see this business open – we will be regulars!!!
We went there last night and had the Regency and the Winchester and they were both VERY good!!! The place was busy too. Very happy to see such a great little place. Can’t wait for coffee and breakfast there too!!!!
If you’re looking for fresh and delicious sandwiches, check this place out!
Good luck!
Be sure I will tate the chocolate cupcake.
We stopped in on our dog walk and got some cookies and the black bottom cupcake. The cookies were good, the cupcake was amazing! It will be great to walk when we are only in need of one vegetable or milk rather than drive all the way to the grocery.
I went there last pm and had the Plantation- it was fabulous. I took the hubby back today for lunch he had the Winchester, which we both agree is one of the tastiest sandwiches we have had. Today I had the Green Hill-yummy & spicy. We, too, bought the butter and a baguette for dinner tonight. Bettina says they will soon be adding soups and salads.
On an added note she also told us they supply lunch to kids at Patrick Henry’s and one of the private schools in the fan. So good local, quality food is rolling out to the school system.
They have their finger on the pulse of what folks on the Hill are looking for.
LOVE, can’t wait to try it!
Loved the shortbread cookies and raspberries from Victory Farms (can’t get VF raspberries at any of the farmers markets!).
Just had the moistest and most delicious blueberry pound cake from there (a gift from our neighbors)! Will definitely go there for more goodies.
I’m addicted to the regency sandwich. It’s like a thick sheet of heaven between two pieces of bread. It’s all so fresh and Kimmy is super friendly. Great to have this store open here.
Just had the Green HIll for lunch and it was to die for! Avocado, melted fresh mozzarella, cilantro and poblano peppers. YUM.
Just called – hours of operation 8AM-8PM M-TH, 10AM-6pm SU. See you there!
Stopped by before the storm for organic cream (and some raspberries, and a chocolate croissant). So easy to bike down and grab a sandwich and a little produce and some fresh milk. Wonderful!!
Just had a great lunch from HOH – my husband and I split the Green Hill and the Lenore. It’s great to see another place to pick up local produce (in addition to Tricycle Gardens Farmstand and the Frog Bottom share at Montessori) and finally nice salads and sandwiches available on the Hill for a reasonable price. I’d love to see them add some local cheeses as well. HOH- keep up the great work!
House of Homemade has excellent sandwiches, salads, cookies, and pastries. The staff is quite personable and helpful Support this neighborhood store. Keep good food available in Church Hill. Thanks.
I’m sad to report that I saw a sign at HOH saying that they are closing at the end of the month. I loved that place and really hoped it was going to become a neighborhood store. Unfortunately, they were often out of the stuff I needed or unexpectedly closed, but that’s probably OUR fault. We can’t demand businesses like HOH and then not support them. We need to eat Anthony’s Pizza and Proper Pie’s and go to Dutch & co, and hit up HOH as often as out pocketbooks allow so that our neighborhood can continue to grow and thrive!
