Richmond Cycling Corps gets kids rolling
Richmond Cycling Corps is a non-profit organization that provides leadership and personal development to Richmond’s urban youth through the sport of cycling. They’re on Twitter and Facebook, and have a website and a tumblr:
I’ve accomplished what are often called ‘milestones’ in life— some cultural (i.e. graduating from high school, voting, getting a driver’s license), while others were more personal, and by default, more distinguished. Throughout my life, I’ve seen a ‘look’(often accompanied by a tear) in my parents’ eyes as I’ve achieved particular milestones. Seeing that I don’t have kids, I’ve never experienced what they’ve felt- a feeling that swells from being proud, and reflected outwardly by the ‘look’
On August 21st, the look covered my face. Chris Mason, RCC youth member and captain, had accomplished 100miles— making him Richmond’s first inner-city youth to do so.
Love this. You can also go vote for them on Richmond Unite:

Love seeing this group ride past the house each day!
I saw this group around Chimborazo Park while I was out running and wondered what they were up to. Very cool. I’ll cheer them on next time.
Chris and 8 other youths participated in the Philly Livestrong Challenge as part of team M-Power and they helped lead the team towards winning the Team Champion Award as M-Power raised almost $140,000 for the Livestrong Foundation. M-Power is looking forward to even more RCC kids joining us in Philly next year!
