Killing on Q Street
09/20/2011 9:24 AM by John M
Thomas Earl Kelly, 30, of the 1600 block of North 21st Street, was found shot in the 1900 block of Q Street about 10:30 last night. Kelly was transported to VCUMC where he was pronounced dead.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both methods are anonymous.
This is the 8th in the East End, and #25 for Richmond so far in 2011.
Alright RPD, it appears that an increased police presence is needed in this general area.
don’t know what happen but know he was a rat (snitch) so u live the life u pay
i’m sad for you swagger…so sad
I swear since it was reported our murder rate was down, certain people woke up and said, “Oh, I forgot to kill… today.” Could we just once have a year that make us look like Mayberry?
i’m just saying when u living that life thats what comes with it death or jail and when u ratting on folks n people know death is more the outcome i wish thangs could change i love church hill n actually like how thangs have changed
feeling the mayberry comment
So let me get this straight…. He deserved to die because he was a law abiding citizen and did the right thing? It’s this type of pathetic twisted logic within the African American community that will doom us all in the end….
So swagger, anyone who reports crime is a snitch? This person could have been a hero.
@2 – Did you mean to say he was a responsible adult trying to clean up his community and stop all the senseless crime? If so, I think that’s all the more reason to mourn him. If you feel otherwise, it’s a shame you’re still with us and he isn’t.
The “stop snitching” culture is the worst thing for a neighborhood that needs to improve. By perpetuating it, you are basically shitting in the bed you sleep in every night.
Honestly, I wanted to CH a chance. I really wanted to like the area. Nevertheless, CH will never change. Never. Crime breeds crime. I don’t care how you look at it, the cycle will never end.
I would love nothing more than to have a neighborhood that is as warm and inviting as the people living there. Where people could walk down the street at dusk and the only problem they would have is the decision of what lovely park to sit at. Yeah… not the case. Instead we have an area that I am afraid to run in because I fear for my life and well being.
Just yesterday I was running and a man started running after me in Jefferson Park. I had no clue what they wanted but I know I did not want to find out.
Sorry for my rant. I’m just saying there are only two kinds of people in Church Hill. There are people who KNOW the area is terrible and full of crime and the others who live in a distorted reality and just see the crimes as a “fluke”.
Perhaps, Swagger, he was “ratting” to better the community. Could he have been “snitching” on some actual thugs who deserved to get snitched on? I’d seem to believe THAT would better church hill.
I feel for his family.
Hey, Swagger: None of us knew he was a snitch until you blabbed to everyone. Way to rat him out, snitchy!
I’m guessing you’ll be happy to “live the life u pay” or whatever malicious nonsense you said earlier when you were celebrating his death?
look i apologize to u all who feel i was talking reckless me i don’t like whats happen to the community all i was trying to say if u live that so called thug life this is what happens and when i referred to him as a snitch i should have said liar cuz he lied on people to get them locked up so my bad
This “no snitch” madness has got to stop, got to stop, got to stop. We’re killing ourselves with this twisted mentality, and only ourselves.
