From Church Hill with Love: A Benefit for Mary Ann
09/20/2011 7:19 AM by John M
Bob and Mary Ann Buffington have been cornerstones of Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood offering coffee, conversation and a sense of community through Buzzy’s Coffee Shop and most recently Buff’s Corner. Now it’s our turn to give back to the Buffington’s. On Friday, October 28th from 5 ot 9:30 pm Saint John Episcopal’s Church is sponsoring a community event of barbeque, beer and blue grass with proceeds going to helps with Mary Ann’s medical expenses as she fights ovarian cancer.
Best wishes to the Buzzies and I hope this event is a success.
Is there contact info for this event?
Any updates on this event?
The event is still scheduled for Friday. If you can not attend, contributions can be made and will be greatly appreciated. Checks can be made out to St. John’s Episcopal Church with “Mary Ann Buffington” on the memo line and mailed or delivered to St. John’s church at 2401 East Broad Street, 23223.
I see that tickets for the event are available now at the coffee shop and the Buffington’s…
John, Thank you so much for putting this back on the front page!
This is why I wanted to live in church hill. What an awesome night. Hopefully this event was able to help Bob and Mary Anne. It definitely was nice to see the community rally behind them like this.
Hope it was a success even though the weather wasn’t great!! Would love to hear about the turnout.
Good turnout, my guess would be about 100-200 attended at some point. Beer sales were strong and there were also some extra donations so I hope this was a success financially.
Great to see the turnout despite the lousy weather, I hope it helped Mary Ann!
