Vote Jafari, Brown on November 8
10/29/2011 12:00 PM by John M
There is an election next week, sort of. None of the incumbents have major party challengers, and half of the ballot is running unopposed. This is a travesty, and I encourage you to: 1) vote for the opposition, 2) write in a challenger if none exist.

The bigger threat to democracy is a lack of civic participation, not a lesser qualified candidate getting protest votes and perhaps office for a few years.
I intend to vote for Preston Brown, that’s my protest vote against Marsh.
However, I beg to differ about the incumbent for clerk of Circuit Court, I happen to have actually met Mr. Dean and think he’s the more qualified. In general, I tend to agree with John’s comment in #2, though.
Agree with John on this. Unopposed elections result in lack of accountability by sending the message that we will accept whatever an official does.
John, interested in getting a write-in vote? I’ll be glad to cast one for you. Buddy Corbett is getting my other vote unless someone else wants it.
Jafari? I don’t get it.
Bevil Dean is as solid and honest as they come. He’s a quiet, effective guy who just gets the job done — no fuss or muss.
If anyone deserves re-election in Richmond, it’s Bevil Dean.
Go VOTE Today! Polls close at 7pm.
