Good words for Anthony’s on the Hill

Style Weekly’s Short Order shares Anthony’s on the Hill with the rest of RVA:
Church Hill’s ebb and flow of restaurant activity might be a microcosm of what’s happening across the city. One place closes, another stalls, and two more manage to open, while the longtimers all hope for the steadiness of regulars at the bar. The newest dining spot east of downtown opened July 5, when well-known local baker Michael Calogerakis introduced Anthony’s on the Hill at 2824 E. Broad St. To say that neighbors have jumped at a new option is an understatement, with take-out orders making a brisk sideline.
My husband and I went the other night and they were super friendly, place is clean and neat! If you like your pizza hot and crispy, cooked well done, then this is your place. Had the mushroom pizza, real shrooms, not canned. The Cesar salad was cold and fresh! Another table had ordered the chix parm and a ziti dish and it looked great! Definitely, worth a return visit to try the pasta! I think this place is a great inexpensive alternative for the Hill. I wish it luck and hope it gets plenty of support from the locals!
We’ve had 3 pizzas there and they all have been amazing. This is our new go to place for pizza!!! Can’t wait for them to get Beer & Wine. Couldn’t be happier!!!
Fresh ingredients, amazing salad, kind folks. Would love to have some music to drown out the humm of the drink machine, though.
We went in a few nights ago and ordered the greek/ mediteranean salad and the margherita pizza. Both were delicious. As I said to the woman at the counter, my only suggestion/ complaint is that there is no chicken option for pizza. We typically get pizza with chicken wherever we go (BBQ chicken pizza, chicken and broccoli, etc) so I hope they will consider adding it as a topping soon!
We tried the take out pizza and were very pleased. I would like to see them offer some size options for pizza though. Will definitely go back to try the pasta.
A good place. We’ve had pasta and the vegetarian and meat pizzas which really satisfied us both. I also had a ‘small’ Caesar salad and thought the dressing, while good, was a bit heavy. We will definitely return many times and bring friends.
Agree the food and service were good but the drink refrigerator drowned out our conversation. We also couldn’t hear our waitress… I’d get a different fridge and some ambiance.
Hey Church Hill,
We would like to thank everyone so much for all the support!!!
We are excited to be here in the neighborhood. Thanks for all of the positive feedback and suggestions. Hope to see all of you soon!! Thanks again
The veggie pizza and mista salad were awesome tonight! Nice to have a place to walk to.
We got carry-out last night. The mista salad was awesome as was the pizza! We’ll be back!!
Love the food and the warm welcome!
We had and loved the three meat pizza, mista salad and the baked ziti. It’s great to have an Italian restaurant on the Hill.
