Alamo BBQ under new ownership? (UDATE: not really)

Style Weekly is reporting that Alamo BBQ has changed hands:
Paul Hubbard, one of the founders of Church Hill’s barbecue destination Alamo, is moving west. He’s sold the business and is about to open Deep Run Roadhouse on Lauderdale Drive in his childhood stomping grounds. Hubbard just returned from Missouri to pick up a giant smoker for the roadhouse’s array of pork and beef barbecue, ribs and brisket.
Anybody got the skinny on who owns the place now?
Some people are great at starting new things, and others are great at running things that have already been starting. Let’s hope the new people keep it going in the right direction!
This is a pretty misleading post – because Paul was not a very active owner towards the end there. Chris, his partner, is now the full owner and the business hasn’t changed a bit – Paul pulled out his involvement well before selling his share BACK to the other owner. Chris now owns the business and co-manages it with someone who has worked there for a long time, and it’s run just as it’s always been – just constantly getting MORE awesome!
Posting things like this can hurtful to a business – it can imply the food or service will change in quality, but in this case that’s far from the truth.
Just an FYI, from someone who knows.

Thanks someonewhoknows. Alamo provided BBQ, ribs, and corn bread for my father in laws retirement party. Everyone raved about the food quality. They have a consistently great product and I hope the Church Hill community continues to support them. I certainly will.

I personally will give Alamo every chance to prove to me that nothing will change! I’m not writing them off unless/until they give me a reason to do so.
Nothing’s changed. Brisket sandwich was good as ever tonight. False alarm.
I am glad it was a false alarm. As long as key people are still there from the beginning or about… then things should remain the same.

He assured me that, as the previous poster mentioned, the one owner, Paul, sold back his share to Chris and Chris is still the owner. He is the only one I’ve ever seen there and he is always amazing to both his customers and the community.
Someonewhoknows. I’m sorry but this is a lie. Paul did everything for that place, the only time he did step back was because he was letting his managers take charge, and even then he still kept a very close eye on the place. all Chris did was show up to sign checks and berate the employees for little to no reason.
Now that Paul and his 2 managers are gone the place has gone down hill. I’ve been there 3 times since they left and all were bad experiences. Either my brisket was too fatty, Mac and cheese tasted like it went bad, or they forgot my sides they charged me for. Every time I’ve been there someone new was working, turnover seems to be very high.
Who cares as long as the food is good?? Restaurants change ownership ALL the time.
