Working to make Mary Wingfield Scott’s books available digitally
Alfred Scott is working on making Mary Wingfield Scott’s Houses of Old Richmond and Old Richmond Neighborhoods available as free digital downloads:
Mary Wingfield Scott published Houses of Old Richmond in 1941 and Old Richmond Neighborhoods in 1950 and these books are still the bibles of Richmond architectural history.
In 2011 we published Winkie including some of her previously unpublished writings and other articles about her. This was a private printing and distributed to a limited number of people. […]
Our vision for ‘Project Winkie’ as we are calling it, is to move all three of these books into iBooks and offer them for free in the iBookstore. This is strictly a labor of love and we want to bring Winkie and her books to life and to have people all over the world read this. […]We would welcome any help in proof-reading the text. […]
Check out the work so far and see how you can help!
John, this is great
I now have photos in the first four sections of Houses of Old Richmond. Tomorrow I will have the last section filled with photos. Where I have them, I have recent photos, but there are a lot of houses where we only have old photos. As you can see in the book, recent photos make a lot of difference and really make the book come alive.
Please spread the word and get me any photos that could go into the book.
Many thanks,
Alfred Scott
