Man in bad shape after accidental shooting on Whitcomb Street
Richmond Police detectives are investigating an accidental shooting that occurred yesterday in the 2300 block of Whitcomb Street.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., officers were called to the location and found a male suffering from a gunshot wound in the residence. He was rushed to VCU Medical Center with injuries that were considered life threatening. There is no update on his condition.
The victim is a black male in his 50’s.
At this time detectives believe a juvenile relative in the man’s home accidentally shot the victim. Detectives are still investigating the incident.

The victim from the accidental shooting on Sunday has died.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., the Richmond Police Department was called to 2315 Whitcomb Street for the report of a person down. Officers found Casper R. Jones, 58, of the same address, suffering from a gunshot wound in the residence.
Detectives believe a juvenile relative in the victim’s home accidentally shot Jones. Detectives are still investigating the incident. Charges, if any, will be placed by the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
