6:00 pm until 8:00 pm

Join us as we collaborate with the Future of Richmond’s Past and the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities (VCIC) to offer our next series of “Community Conversations.” Each month we will discuss a decade in Richmond history starting with the 1960s. Attendees will examine Richmond’s Slave Trail and the proposed Richmond Liberty Trail route, which will guide long-time residents and visitors alike as they explore the sites in our beloved city. The establishment of these trails will guide visitors with a comprehensive view of the city’s history from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement. Notable humanitarians recognized by the VCIC will come together in a panel discussion as we explore, interpret and discuss the evolution of our city over the past 50 years.

This is the third iteration of the “Community Conversations” series. The purpose of the series is to engage the community in a dialogue about the region’s past and how that past can positively shape our collective future. The more people that join in the conversation, the more productive our efforts become, and the easier it will be for everyone to see ourselves in the history of the region.

Free and open to the public.
All events will be held at the History Center from 6-8 p.m.
Parking is available on the street or at the History Center’s lot located at the corner of 10th & Clay Streets.

Attendees will be entered to win a copy of “Richmond’s Hollywood Cemetery” coffee-table book by John O. Peters ($50 value). At the conclusion of the series in May, the entries collected from all 5 sessions will be entered to win an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Valentine Richmond History Center’s collection with Director Bill Martin.
