Talking about Richmond in the 1990s

Join us as we collaborate with the Future of Richmond’s Past and the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities (VCIC) to offer our next series of “Community Conversations.” Each month we will discuss a decade in Richmond history starting with the 1960s. Attendees will contribute to the proposed Richmond Liberty Trail route, which will guide long-time residents and visitors alike as they explore the sites in our beloved city. Notable humanitarians recognized by the VCIC will come together in a panel discussion as we explore, interpret and discuss the evolution of our city over the past 50 years.

Help mark the Richmond Liberty Trail

The Richmond Liberty Trail is a walking route that connects many of downtown Richmond’s historic sites, attractions and neighborhoods, including 15 national historic landmarks. This 6.2 mile (10K) trail will be marked with a logo painted on the sidewalk.
The Trail is but one of several self-guided opportunities to experience Richmond’s 400-year history on foot. In Shockoe Bottom, it connects with the Richmond Slave Trail. There is no beginning or end to the Richmond Liberty Trail. Participants are encouraged to walk portions of the route based on their interests.
Paint the Street! On April 6, 2013, volunteers will paint the 6.2 mile Richmond Liberty Trail. If you are interested in lending a hand, please register by April 4th. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
