UPDATE 3/30 10:15AM
From nbc12’s Richmond Police investigating connection among three robberies:
A woman walking near 26th and East Franklin Streets had some scary moments just before 10:30pm Thursday night. She came face to face with three masked men and their weapons, including a shotgun. One of them even pushed the barrel of that shotgun into her torso.
Then at 12:25am, a man was walking home through Chimborazo Park when two men robbed him. He told police at least one of them was armed.
The last incident happened in a parking lot in the 1900 block of East Franklin Street around 12:45am. Police say the victims were robbed by three men. Two of them had guns.
A man was with her, a handgun was held to his head
My guess is this is local perps. You don’t walk very far carrying a shotgun.
So terrible… no one should have to walk in fear in their own neighborhood.
@Alex It was right by the stairs at 26th, they could easily have come up from the gas station.
@Virginia – the article on TD mentions that they ran towards the Park though. I’d think that if they came from the gas station that they’d go back down the stairs? It also seems a little ballsy to me to park by the gas station with all those lights and cars going by and get out with a shotgun.
Any thoughts about the trashy buildings (apartments and row houses at the base of the 3000 block of Franklin Street). Those look like a breeding ground for bad behavior. I would love to see a bulldozer take a run through that area! I feel sorry for the homeowner of the yellow house on the north side of the street. Having all of that trash across the street has got to be discouraging. I do believe that home has been broken into a few times. Hmmmm.
These gang bangers are gonna run into someone with a concealed carry permit eventually, hopefully soon.
Did they all have guns? What a crew!
Completely agree DES. Maybe it’s time to look into that.
A person stopped me last night and told me that someone was robbed at 33rd and Broad. On the news I heard that there was also a robbery in the bottom. Anyone know details about those incidents?

Gee, Laura, you really have it figured out, don’t you. Perhaps you could share your insights with Lt Dan.
@12 Sure will…do you have his number?
For Laura so she can share her wisdom: 240-9158 (B)
646-0574 (O)/ Do it sweetie.
Oh Dan…you ARE the MAN…I’ve got something for you to do…SAFO!
FYI City parks officially close at sunset. I think the argument is that they are unsafe after dark.
Ick, Dan creeping anyone else out?
@17…he certainly creeps me out!
For those interested in learning about tactical plans to defend yourselves (concealed carry or other), increasing situational awareness and risk mitigation, a close friend and Richmond native owns a business called Tactical Preparedness Solutions and would be pleased to offer a free entry level class to a group of interested neighbors. Specific, tailored plans can be made on an individual basis at a very nominal charge.
Even as a combat veteran, working with TPS helped me to be more prepared, and safe. Being a Church Hill resident, my concern is for my neighbors and post this information to provide a valuable resource for those of you who are concerned and want to give themselves a few options when faced with situations like these.
TPS can be reached at http://www.tacprepsolutions.com. I would be happy to facilitate the free class if there’s enough interest among our neighbors.
