Man, child shot in Mosby

An adult male and a child, approximately 6 years old, were shot shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Redd Street, according to police Capt. Emmett Williams. Both suffered single gunshot wounds and were taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Williams said.

Vito Gayles, who lives in the neighborhood, said he heard about 10 shots and then saw two men in their late teens or early 20s running from the scene — one of them with a gun. At least one of them got into a van that was waiting nearby, he added.
