Immigration rally at Libby Hill

An immigration rally hosted by Virginia Organizing and Organizing For Action has been announced for Libby Hill on August 31 at 11AM. Speakers include Linda Cedillos whose husband was deported 18 months ago while applying for an adjustment of status and Lana Heath de Martinez.

Oakwood neighborhood clean-up

Let your Saturday go to waste – join in T.T.Y. monthly neighborhood effort to pick up litter! Meet at 1023 Oakwood Avenue. Trash bags , pick up rods, and gloves will be provided. LET’S ZUMBA

Mon Sep 2 The 7th District Health & Wellness Initiative, in partnership with Bon Secours and the American Heart Association, is offering free Zumba classes at the Robinson Theater in Church Hill. This is a 10-week series that will meet on Mondays & Wednesdays, with sessions from 4:45pm until 5:45pm and on Tuesdays & Thursdays, with sessions at 5pm and 6:30pm. Classes are FREE to all Church Hill & Fulton residents and $20.00 ($1.00 per class paid in full at registration) for residents outside of the 7th District. The Robinson Theater is located at 2903 Q. Street, Richmond, VA 23223.

Sidewalk Chalk of Love for Chimborazo Elementary

The concept is simple. Neighbors gather together on the school grounds between 3:00pm-5:00pm the afternoon/night before the first day of school (Monday, September 2nd) and “chalk up the walk” with uplifting and encouraging messages of love, drawings, quotations, etc. Then we go home and pray it doesn’t rain. Bring your kids! Bring your pets! Bring your neighbors! Bring some chalk!
