Mabe THIS is the boom that everybody heard last night.
@spacecat – your comments are both hilarious and insightful
Mr. Gorbechev (or whomever the landlord of this building is), tear down this wall (specifically the bricked up big storefront windows)! This little space could be a charmer if everything under that little reddish metal awning was the storefront window it used to be.
Hey team, how about we start an email and letter campaign to get that US post office on 25th cleaned up? The rusty storefront and general dilapidation is a monument to disinvestment. Start with the congressman for this district:

For complaints about the rust flaking into the street, and the general dilapidation of the 25th street post office, go here:

The back of the lot leading to the sidewalk on 24th Street is a disgrace.
Not to take this thread on a further tangent, but I thought that the USPS didn’t own that building, but instead just leased it for an absurd amount of money. http://eservices.ci.richmond.va.us/applications/PropertySearch/Detail.aspx?pin=E0000337010
If so, is it up to the USPS to make those improvements, or the actual building owner? I don’t know how it works with commercial real estate.
@ spacecat… That loud boom you heard was me dropping my weights at the local gym… Sorry for the wake-up
@Mike – the only way to figure out who has the ultimate responsibility for the exterior appearance of a commercial property is to see a copy of the lease. Either way, property maintenance violations exist. If it is the landlord’s responsibility to fix, that makes it easier for the City to enforce since various levels of the government cannot enforce against each other, generally. If maintenance is USPS responsibility, it is solely a political argument and a federal government agency (USPS? General Services Admin?) should be shamed into cleaning it up. At this point the abandoned roofless theater looks better.
