“Negro Project” event moved to Mt.Olivet

An event organized by the creationist, pro-life, pro-abstinence-only, anti-gay Virginia Christian Alliance is being moved to a church on 25th Street after being booted from Chamberlayne Avenue:

Bishop Darryl Husband, senior pastor of Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Richmond, has stepped forward to provide a venue for the “History of the Negro Project” presentation on Thursday, September 19th at 7 p.m.

Husband also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for East End Pregnancy Test and Help Center which has also become a supporter of the event. Dr. Alveda King, minister, civil rights activist and grandmother, opined, “It’s time for people to know the truth about ‘The Negro Project’, a women’s sterilization plan to reduce the Black population in America.

My children and grandchildren need easy access to high quality education and not easy access to birth control, sterilization and abortion. Americans need to know the legacy of ‘The Negro Project’ and what it has done to hurt children and families.

“Presenter Terry Beatley commented, “I am inspired by leaders like Dr. Alveda King and so very thankful for Bishop Husband’s determination to tackle the tough issues of our day. I am also grateful to Emmett Bailey, a real Richmond leader.

We all hope this event can be a blessing to the East End Pregnancy Test and Help Center.”Other African-American leaders associated with this event are: Gilbert Wilkerson, Assistant Chairman of EEPTHC, and Esther Brooks, director of EEPTHC and VCA Advisory Committee member.
