Four vie to be City Sheriff

The RTD has a great look at the four candidates for Richmond Sheriff who will be on the ballot this November, including Church Hill’s own Antionette Irving:
Irving, 48, who grew up in the Creighton Court public housing complex in Richmond and now lives in Church Hill, became the first woman to be promoted to major at the Henrico Sheriff’s Office in 2004. She was hired in 1988 as a correctional deputy.
Sheriff Woody? Just saying, Toy Story insists on this one.
I found this quote disturbing….is Sheriff Woody’s lack of oversight costing Richmond city lives and tax dollars?
“In 2011, a Richmond jury returned a $2.4 million verdict against Woody and the jail’s former chief physician in a wrongful-death case involving the death in 2008 of an inmate who had pneumonia.
Last month, a federal judge approved a settlement in a wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the family of a Richmond jail inmate who died of heat exposure in 2010. The city jail has no air conditioning in its men’s tiers.”
There are lots of things disturbing about Woody Churchillian!
Not sure about the pneumonia thing, but I doubt the Sheriff has that much control over the budget of the jail and access to a/c.
chris dorsey is a paranoid conspiracy theory nut. i have seen him infiltrate community organizing groups and disrupt their meetings and structure with his delusions that everyone was out to silence him. he has been known to be verbally abusive when people try to maintain some sort of order to their meetings. he has also crated fake facebook accounts pretending to be organizations when he cant have his way with them. totally makes sense that he is running for sheriff since he has always been so hungry for power but has so far been too inept to get any.
