The Reverend Robert Rose Monument (c. 1751), the oldest visible grave maker at St. John’s Church, has been names as one of Virginia’s Top 10 Endangered Artifacts of 2013:
The marble monument is severely deteriorated and in need of immediate repair and stabilization before any more original historic fabric is lost. St. John’s Church is a National Historic Landmark and the original location of Patrick Henry’s “Liberty or Death” speech. Photos by Sarah Whiting.
