The porch roof at 507 and 509 North 24th Street collapsed during the night early Thursday. No injuries.

Looks like nothing was bolted to the house. That’s a shame. It was a pretty one 🙁
Anybody have more details about what caused this? It looks scary as hell.
I’ve got a porch that could use some repairs. Anyone have a recommendation for a company that could do this type of work? I live in the Chimborazo Old & Historic District. Thanks!
Who knew that porch sitting could be hazardous to your health.
@dave- I would contact Aaron Ogburn to see if he is available. His email is aaronogburn@gmail.com
Dave, see the other post on “props” for a local contractor.
Thanks Clay St…I just sent him an email.
Not sure what caused it exactly aside from poor architecture (the porch roof was only being held up by the wooden posts), rotten wooden posts and maybe due to all of the rain from the past week and summer combined? But the roof just collapsed and fell (away from the house, thankfully) in the middle of the night.
Rob Pâté is your man. He’s in the neighborhood on 27th.
Let’s just hope whomever rebuilds it does it back in the original style and not some incorrect design. Of course with better anchors.
