Missing this cat?
01/11/2014 4:15 AM by John M
Found this cat walking home early this morning (1/11). Followed us all the way home from 24th and Marshall. Very friendly and likes to be around people, but can’t say the same for other cats. (It didn’t take kindly to my other feline friends) Orange cat with a blue collar stripe collar.
Please call (434) 444-1469 if this is your cat. Would love to return him/her to it’s proper home. Seems like he/she has been well taken care of and is loved. Probably misses parents.
Update: Chubby that cat does have a family in Church Hill. He’s been let outside to make his way back to his brother and home. If you see him around, say “hi!” He’s a sweetheart, but don’t let him fool you into thinking he needs saving 😉
Haha, I feel like we need a Cubby tag and track this kitty’s sightings! He’s quite the traveller and sweetheart!
Thanks to all the neighbors who help take care of our indoor/outdoor cat. He has far more of a social life than we do!
Am I the only one who thinks it’s wrong that a cat’s supposed “owner” depends on the neighborhood to take care of him?
You’re kind of assuming that they “depend” on them, aren’t you?
Cubby is a great cat with equally great owners, and he is well cared for by them. He loves people and attention so love on him if you wan’t to and if not, he will move on.
Suggestion for all owners of outdoor kitties. Please have your cat (inexpensively) microchipped by your veterinarian. Wandering cats picked up by Animal Control are only “held” for finite periods of time depending on whether or not they have identification, be it a collar and tag or a microchip. Then they will either be euthanized or put up for adoption (space available). Please give your pet every chance to safely make it back home to you and get a microchip and/or collar (break-away) with tag. For “educational” purposes, need to say that the average lifespan of a cat of a free-roaming cat is less than 3 years, whereas the lifespan of an indoor cat averages 15 to 18 years. Spayed and neutered cats live longer because they do not develop ovarian or testicular cancers. Sadly, have seen too many of our neighbor’s free-roaming cats come to harm here in C.H.
Domesticated Cats are indoor animals and should be held indoors. Not sure where the idea to let an animal freely roam in and out of your home came about but all studies indicate a dramatically shorter lifespan for indoor/outdoor cats.
