Witer and food historian Lolis Eric Elie will be appearing at Peter Paul Development Center this Tuesday, April 29, from 5:30 – 6:30 PM.

As part of the Junior League of Richmond’s 69th Annual Book & Author Event, families in the Church Hill community are invited to attend a celebration of food and culture featuring Lolis Eric Elie, a New Orleans born, Los Angeles based writer, journalist, documentary filmmaker, and food historian.

Elie wrote for the HBO series Treme, set in post Katrina New Orleans. His new book, Treme: Stories and Recipes from the Heart of New Orleans, carries the same name, but offers its own with a unique mix of New Orleans’ history and a celebration of the eclectic and inventive culinary spirit that continues to thrive and evolve post Katrina.

A recipe tasting from Elie’s Treme will be provided followed by remarks on the importance of maintaining old recipes and old traditions.

The Junior League of Richmond is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The JLR reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.
