Walking dog this morning in Chimborazo Park. Saw snake exactly like this one. It is a ball python. about 4 1/2 feet long; no collar; not friendly. Near gazebo & “hospital rock”. NO I did not bring it home although internet info reports they make “great pets”
Seriously people? There weren’t any crocodiles available I guess.
It’s working, then

My guess belonged to a VCU grad moving out of town after graduation this weekend .
Python was picked up by the police this evening despite my boys wanting to add it to our collection of turtles and fish.
Thank you.
I emailed Lt. Dan earlier today when I saw this, he wrote back that he was off today, but that he used to have pythons, this type typically are not dangerous unless they feel threatened, and this one could not live through the night as it needs warmer temps. I’m SO glad he got it, THANKS LT. DAN! Sorry to your wife! Even though I don’t like snakes, I was sorry to hear from him that it would crawl off and die overnight.
EDS, I completely agree that it was probably a student moving out who let it out. How sad. And this from a non-reptile lover….
Thanks, Lt. Dan. A lot of folks don’t realize that snakes are basically a lifetime commitment. There are much more humane solutions than letting them out in a climate they can’t survive.
There was a man hanging out on the corner of Chimborazo and Clay with a python around his neck this morning around 8:30am. This CAN’T be a coincidence. He was on the phone louldy discussing “this cursed Earth we live on” as well as other religious things.
Last I heard, they were interviewing the snake and he still hasn’t said anything
Thank you, Lt Dan!!

@Maple, I saw the same man preaching on the phone at Chimbo and Broad around 8 am. He was walking north on Chimbo as I walked my dog, and scared me to death. I am horribly afraid of snakes, and I guess it is good he (snake) is gone to a safer place for himself and us. . However, I would not have wanted an introduction to him in my garden around my boxwoods. Not knowing anything about this type of snake, I have no clue if boxwoods would be a great refuge for them. However, I do remember snakes being around my grandmother’s boxwoods a lot when I was a child. She did live in the country and the boxwoods could have just been a convenient place for them to stay cool.
Snakes are just so scary to me I have only seen normal run of the mill snakes in my garden, but I never kill them. I just run…what a sissy I must be. Lol
@Concerned, it has to be the same guy. He was definitely a little scary with all the religious rambling and yelling and the snake around his neck.
