Got a few dollars to help water the community gardens?

Got a few dollars to help ensure that the community gardens can get water?
In order for community gardens and urban farms to get started, they must have access to water. The costs for water hook-up can make it impossible. We propose to acquire a portable water meter that can be shared for community gardens, urban farms, tree planting, and city beautification projects. Water tanks at the community gardens will store water for planting and irrigation. Other groups will be able to water as they plant and maintain city beautification projects and trees.
As of right now, Enrichmond has raised $890 of the necessary $1,199. DONATE HERE

Does anyone know if this is the local Church/Richmond joint effort at a community garden?
I believe the city will let you use hydrant water for community gardens. At least they implied that when they offered lots for community gardens in Fulton. When the question of water came up, their first response was to tell residents to ask the neighbors to use their water(!). When residents pointed out the ridiculousness of that, the city said that water could be used (from hydrants as I recall, but it was a few years ago). There is a community garden liaison at the city, so maybe they can help.
I don’t know how the community garden at 30th and East Grace Sts. gets water now, but when they first started I’m pretty sure that they used hydrant water, Juliellen.
