Donate to help Richmond Cycling Corps build a mountain bike track in Fairfield
Richmond Cycling Corps has announced that they are working to build a mountain bike track behind Armstrong High School. The work has already begun, but they need your help to finish:
We’re building a mountain bike park in Fairfield Court—the public housing neighborhood that RCC has worked in since 2010! This housing project, like all housing projects, is severely under-served. It’s time for something that has never been done before in this type of community!
This one of a kind mountain bike course will include nearly 1.5 miles of singletrack trail with jumps, bumps, berms, and obstacles to hone any and all mountain bike skills. This facility will be the official training ground of the Armstrong High School Cycling Team—the nation’s first and only inner-city cycling team—located in Fairfield Court.
Better yet, youth of all ages in Fairfield Court will be able to take part in the sport of cycling within their own neighborhood. Under the instruction of steadfast RCC staff and volunteers, youth will have a chance to ride mountain bikes in a controlled environment- perhaps for the very first time.
Richmond Cycling Corps will always apply its motto to the work it does: “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop.” This park is the exciting evolution of what we do to change the lives of youth in Richmond’s housing projects. This mountain bike park will give them something fresh, something new, something to challenge them and help them truly develop within the RCC outreach model.
But we need your help: RCC has already fronted the initial cost of $3,000 to have 100 cubic yards of red-clay delivered and graded for perimeter features and berms for our first phase. Our hope is to raise another $15,000 for necessary equipment, surplus dirt, and capital for the next two phases of this project. Please consider helping RCC continue on its revolutionary path of changing youth lives, and make a donation today!
