CONTEST: Guess how long will it take for the backboard at Chimbo to get replaced…
08/06/2014 11:41 AM by John M
One of the backboards at Chimborazo Playground was smashed on July 11. Neighbors have cleaned up the broken glass. The question now: how long will it take for the backboard to get replaced?
Guess a date in the comments. Whoever is closest wins free snacks from one of the local bakeries.
Does NEVER count?
I hope it is replaced with something harder to break.
April 15, 2015.

My guess: Fri., 8/8/14-
And I’ll donate my prize to a Charity/worthy party TBD.

I am sure it will be done within 6 months, probably in the dead of winter.
We have been asking for dangerous sidewalks to be fixed the past 7-years and trees also on the sidewalk with dead limbs falling on cars damaging them for 3-years so let’s see…
I heard somebody’s sister, say that they knew a friend of a girl down the stree, that knows a man who thought that some of the CHA people broke the backboard – while trying to dunk. Thus the
CHA treasurey should replace the backboard and their members stop trying to dunk Petanque balls on the Chimbo playground.
I think it will be replaced the day after this thread gets picked up by the news media. 🙁
BTW, at the risk of jeopardising my prediction, I know that sometimes bombarding Parks and Rec with emails moves things along.
Kathleen, we can only wish things worked that way. Often reporters will steer away from controversy or ruffling a few feathers especially when the “city” is involved.
As long as it takes someone who cares to put up a plywood backboard. That might take longer than the city, though.
CHA does disburse funds for neighborhood projects. Maybe they would consider if it the city fails to respond.
I’m sure with everything the city has in queue, that’s a low priority.

are you claiming the BOULEFROGS did this?
Many of the worlds greatest athletes came up under rigorous conditions…this might be the best thing to ever happen to these young stars!!!!! #nothingbutnet
Just kidding
9/22. Keep the jokes coming – the less contenders those of us who started monte carlo simulations at the phrase “local bakeries” – the better.
As an FYI people are still playing on this basket. It’s a skill-sharpener to play on a backboard-free hoop.

7th district meeting this coming Wednesday. Bring these questions to the your city council rep: /2015/01/22/7th-district-meeting-set-for-next-week_39922/
@34, You can try to bring it to her attention, but SeeClickFix says it has been assigned to Parks and Rec., so I think she’d say to talk to them.
We’re up to 17 votes on SeeClickFix, no remedy yet. Case has been open since July, I think.
crd, the 7th district meeting includes the regularly scheduled MPACT meeting…of which SeeClickFix is a part…so, if the council rep can’t answer SeeClickFix issues, someone at the meeting should be able to. This from the MPACT Coordinator:
“Attached is the updated agenda for the 1st Precinct MPACT/7th District Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 6:00PM. The meeting will be held at EDI (East District Center), 701 N. 25th St, in the 1st floor conference room.
This month, we invite you to attend a MPACT conversation with special guest speaker, the Honorable Councilwoman Cynthia Newbille and the Department of Public Works. Councilwoman Newbille will discuss Public Safety (i.e. Richmond Police, Fire and Emergency Services, and CAPS/Code Enforcement) and the Department of Public Works will discuss the new Richmond Recycles Program.
Please note that this agenda may be revised and that you can refer to the City’s MPACT website for updates.”
Sincerely,
Hope
