Package theft on M Street
I had a package delivered to my home last Thursday August 7, 2014 at 10:38 am and by the time I got home at approximately 4pm there was no package to be found. This is not the first time this has happened, but it’s getting really old!!!!!!!
my guess is that who ever might have made off with this particular package has absolutely no f’ing clue what it is or what it’s for……. I can say this with almost 100% certainty due to the fact that I am one of the few….. If not, the only bow hunter living in this part of the city at this time. This is a very particular part for a very particular sight for a bow…… As in bow and arrow bow, and would hold no value to anyone else around here except for me.
I work very hard and very rarely get to purchase things for myself due to the fact that I am providing for a family of 5 on my own. Hunting season is coming up and this particular part is not so easy to come by. I would really appreciate it’s return and for the person/persons that have nothing better to do with their time than to go around taking packages off of hard working people’s porches to knock this $h!t off…….. Get a job, find a hobby,…… Get a damn girlfriend/boyfrien…. whatever you might be in to.
You can’t honestly feel good about yourself being a thief and not even know what the hell it is you are stealing in the first place.
I am going to post some pictures and would really appreciate the return or some info that might point me in the right direction of locating this part.
I am not interested in pressing charges or getting the law involved at all. I just want it back, and for people to leave my damn packages alone. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
I would love to catch you doing it……… trust me, what little money I have to spend on the packages I receive is not worth the risk of you, who ever you are, being caught in the act of taking from me what does not belong to you.
I would greatly appreciate any responses leading to the return of this object. thanks in advance.
Well…it looks like they HAVE found a hobby…
But I hope you get your part back!
This is out of control. I feel for this guy/gal. Hopefully the next time this happens the bowhunter will be in the bushes at full pull.
A suggestion that has worked for me:
Find a friend or neighbor who may be home during the day who’ll accept packages for you. As long as items are delivered to your porch/door, they stand a 50/50 chance at best of not being swiped. Thieves are lazy by nature, and therefore could not give a damn how hard you work.
Hope this is helpful…
I’ve had items stolen off my porch, too. you can choose to have packages held at the FedEx office, which is near the airport (only 5 miles away). Not sure if UPS offers the same service.
I just have everything my wife and I order sent to my office. Security issue is solved that way.
Ups offers the same service..
I cannot wait for them to try thieving something again from us. We are having complete security installed at our house, including cameras that face the garage AND the front door.
My wife and I always order packages to work for this reason. I feel like that practice is relatively common across the urban portions of Richmond.
I *always* have my packages delivered to my office. My boyfriend’s parents didn’t know about the proliferation of package thieves and sent me a framed photo they took of us…which was promptly stolen from my front porch. Lesson learned.
I, too, have my packages delivered to my place of business. It’s really sad we have to do this, that we know our packages are not safe in front of our door, and we’ve accepted this as commonplace (well, I have). I also wish I could have caught the jagweed that stole my first package, he/she would have seen what sheer adrenaline + anger does to a person.
Whatever happened to the Amazon Locker delivery option? There used to be the option to choose to have your purchase delivered to a locker located at Harrison and Grace but it has been removed. Now when I search on Amazon I can’t find any Amazon Lockers anywhere near Richmond.
@11 The Locker at Harrison and Grace was removed which is a real shame. I think the Amazon locker model is PERFECT for this area. Imagine a locker outside of Proper Pie or the East End Center at 25th and M! Perhaps we can petition Amazon for a reinstatement of a locker in Richmond!
It is too late to say it since other have here but I always have larger and expensive packages that won’t fit through the mail slot delivered to work.
I know some people don’t have that option so then have a neighbor accept for you. Again, neighbors may not be home either nor reliable. And face it, being friends with your neighbors is getting to be a rarity. A survey was done that says over 50% of people don’t know their neighbors on either side of them and less socialize or even acknowledge them on the street.
Or possibly have it delivered to a relative in town who is home? You can call UPS before a package is delivered to have it rerouted to a different address.
I did not even know there was an Amazon locker so that would not have serviced me and not be an option anyway if you purchased from eBay or other retailers.
The package hold option would also be an option as well as “signature required” option for delivery especially if you know it is a hard to replace or non insured item.
And security cameras like we have is also an option if you have a security system already in place like we do. They are a good option anyway since home invasions are getting to be more of a problem especially in fringe areas.
I either have my packages delivered to my sister’s house or have a neighbor watch out for them. I have had one package taken off of my house -a Christmas present for my husband a few years ago. That did it for me. Fortunately, we have a pretty tight block so we are able to watch out for each other’s packages but I like the idea of a Amazon locker.
I had a Halloween costume stolen off my porch last Oct and a fairly large package stolen just before Christmas. It sucks that people do this.
