Interested in playing bocce?

The folks at Major League Bocce are adding a Church Hill division:
Previously the pallina (aka jack or boccino) has only been tossed at Hardywood on Wednesday nights. That division has been so successful (Fall Season already full) that they’ve expanded and have now added a division here in Church Hill. The Church Hill division will play on Tuesday nights at 6:30 and will start tossing in Jefferson Park on September 30th.
So is this the younger, hipper petanque?
That grassy bocce court looks nice.
What happens if a petanque player and a bocce player run into each other at the park?
Do they just cancel each other out like matter colliding with antimatter? And if so, is there an explosion? Boules and Pallinas flying all over CH could be dangerous.
Or is it more like the Warriors vs the Baseball Furies (you can youtube that for 1979 awesomeness.) Waaiiiitaminute are those bocce Crips AND Bloods in the photo above?
So many questions.
It’s French vs Italians
@1, based on the photos, I’d say yes. Definitely yes.
Wait, are they playing bocce without specially created courts? Is this legal?
We need a stadium in the bottom for Bocce and Petanque courts – what a concept of international friendship and competiton. It might some day be an Olympic event – all started here on Church Hill, then to the Bottom and finally to Athens. France ……
Wait, are these hipsters displacing the people who usually litter and smoke in Jefferson Park on Tuesday afternoons? Gentrification! Outrage!
So, what? An additional ten or so people in the park? I didn’t know there were so many old Italian guys in Church Hill.
/grew up in New Jersey, saw many a bocce game, ALWAYS played by old Italian guys with the occasional toddler thrown in
//at least they’re not asking for city-built courts, BOULEFROGS
Funny, Trish, the not asking part.
