Fire, Flour, & Fork includes neighborhood dinners, Urban State Fair at St.John’s

Fire, Flour, & Fork will be three days of food-focussed presentations, tastings, book signings, and special dinners across the city presenting “the best the Richmond region has to offer” at the end of October.

Special guests include Sean Brock of Charleston/Nashville Husk, Sarah Simmons from NYC’s City Grit, Josh Keeler of Charleston’s Two Boroughs Larder, Paul Virant chef and owner of the Michelin-starred Vie, and more. Local talent such as Metzger Bar & Butchery’s Brittanny Anderson, Hispania Bakery’s Maria Onsel, Randall Doetzer of Julep’s, WPA Bakery’s Shola Walker, 2300 Club’s Michael Hall, Sub Rosa Bakery’s Evrim Dogu, The Roosevelt’s Lee Gregory and T Leggett, & Phillip Perrow and Caleb Shriver of Dutch & Co, are also featured.

Events in the neighborhood include dinners at The Roosevelt and 2300 Club, and an Urban State Fair at St.John’s Church.

Got a good pie recipe? Enter your original apple pie recipe or jam recipe by Oct. 6 at info@fireflourandfork.com to be a part of the Urban State Fair. Twenty will be selected in advance to bring their wares to the judging table; prizes and blue ribbons will be awarded.

Sarah Simmons from NYC’s City Grit and Josh Keeler of Charleston’s Two Boroughs Larder cook at The Roosevelt with Lee Gregory, just named by Plate magazine one of 30 Chefs to Watch. Bar opens at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Nonprofit Beneficiary: Tricycle Gardens

Hall, Halloween & History
Michael Hall’s tribute to Edgar Allan Poe at the 2300 Club. 6 p.m. Nonprofit Beneficiary: St. John’s Church Foundation.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1st

Urban State Fair at St. John’s Church
9 a.m. – Noon
Open to the public, this event, co-sponsored by Bon Secours Health System and The Local Palate, will feature a Cake & Kale Walk, apple pie and jam contests judged by Patrick Henry and George Washington, healthy eats and demos from Bon Secours’ Class-a-Roll mobile kitchen, Edible Education, Tricycle Gardens, Shalom Farms, plus the Indigenous Gourd Orchestra and their gourd petting zoo, among other activities.
