Know anything about this dog?
11/22/2014 12:10 PM by John M
My wife and I have seen this sweet dog around the intersection of 32nd and M quite a few times lately. He has a collar on. I’m not sure if he belongs to someone on that block who does not keep him contained or if he is lost, so I have not picked him up. But I am afraid that with traffic around the roundabout there he may be hit by a car if he hangs around much longer.
sweet dog.
I find it entertaining that there is more of a response to a dog walking around, than the dog that almost got his head blown off last night w his owner, w the robbery off 26th street this morning
We the people of church hill have our priorities straight!
@9 So, we’re now generalizing everyone’s priorities based on Internet comments?
I personally can feel bad for a sad stray AND be concerned about crime! Simultaneously, even. I must be a genius.
*Rolling eyes*
This dog (Oreo) is imprisoned usually at 30th and M street. It does not matter how cold, the down pour of rain, or blazing heat, the dog is outside. The only joy I would assume in the dog has is the weekly escapes to the neighborhood.
If you folks are really concerned for this dog, don’t return him/her. The thin and dirty appearance of the dog should be all anyone needs to know that it needs to be rescued.
Richmond Animal Care and Control does welfare checks for animals that might not be in the best situation so they can come out if you call them and know where he lives. If he needs to be rescued – RACC has expanded and is there to help (not hurt our city resident pets). Please check out the RACC facebook page or internet site for more info to help this guy!! https://www.facebook.com/Richmond.Animal.Care.and.Control/photos/a.367880223222979.98460.357521830925485/910888812255448/?type=1&fref=nf&pnref=story
I recently worked with RACC on a welfare check. You can call RACC at #646-5573 and speak with Charles. Make sure you have the street address and a full description of the animal. The owners name is helpful. In my case, it took about 3 weeks, numerous calls on my part to remind RACC that the complaint was still pending, and the situation was never really ‘resolved’. The pet owner told the RACC officer that the dog in question was either stolen or ran away. That was the end of that.
Oreo lives in the 700 block of 30th. His backyard is completely fenced however the fence needs to be just a bit higher. As we walk by his house, he/she jumps so high and knew he’d get loose one day. One day he ran up to us in Ethel Park for a greeting. He followed us all around the park. When I tried to ‘guide’ him toward his house…he split. He tends to return home on his own time…like Burch.
