Anybody want to schedule a Neighborhood Cleanup?
From Mariane Jorgenson at the Department of Public Utilities:
Does your neighborhood need some sprucing up? Are there things in your house and yard you wish were gone but you have no time or way to get to the dump? Schedule a Neighborhood Cleanup through the Clean City Commission.
The Department of Public Works will send trucks out on a pre-scheduled Saturday morning to pick it all up. All it takes is advanced planning to get your neighborhood informed and ready to put out trash, clear away yard debris, and gather up their old furniture and appliances and get them to the curb on their appointed day.
To schedule a city refuse truck, call Darlene Mallory at 646-8325. You can also go online at www.richmondgov.com , click on Public Works, then Clean City Commission to learn more.
We should schedule these around the major rental move-out and move-in day cycles.
You can also get pickup sticks and bags from Mrs.Mallory. Just call and ask, it’s really easy.
CHA has already requested street cleaning in advance of the CHA Holiday Weekend, Dec 12 – 14, for Church Hill.
Would be willing to share in general “alley rally”, clean up of church hill too when scheduled.
I am interested in pitching in for a street cleaning if anyone is willing to organize and select a location.
Street cleaning by City is different than Alley Rally. Street cleaning are trucks mostly cleaning the gutters of leaves and trash. Alley Rally are volunteer events usually on weekends – City provides garbage trucks and the community provides the labor. Both cases, these activities have to be requested and coordinated with the City.
