Meeting TONIGHT on expanding art and cultural activities in the area
From Juanita Buster of the Richmond Department of Community Development:
As planning for the transformation of the East End continues, one consistent theme has been expanding the number and types of art and cultural activities within the community. Expressed during the various community meetings, this interest was also shown by several who completed a survey on this matter during the Better Block activity in June.
While there is no quick fix for this, I am asking that we meet as soon as possible to determine if an open NEA solicitation is an opportunity to move from interest to action. This email is being sent to individuals and groups that have expressed an interest or may be interested in moving this forward.

A meeting has been scheduled for Monday, November 24, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the East District Center, 700 N. 25th Street, to talk about this.
Please share with others you think may be interested. If you have questions or want more information, please call me at 646-6361.

This is exactly responsive to a lot of what we as neighbors have been saying about institutions engaging the region’s creative class in proposals. Hope a lot of folks show up.
