Want to restore the Haley House?

The historic Haley House at 623 and 621 North 30th Street is for sale for $70,000.
A report by Madge Goodrich (via the Library of Virginia) dated January 28, 1937, traces the history of the property back to the early 1800s and its ownership by Richard Adams. The house itself dates from 1824.
The photograph and report are part of the Virginia W.P.A. Historical Inventory Project sponsored by the Virginia Conservation Commission.

Serious question: Can anyone recommend a great real estate agent who could walk a first-time buyer through the process of buying this building or one like it?
Oh gosh, that is going to be quite a job. Would be great to have it fixed up though.

I was just in the house. Precious little of its original historic fabric left. Mantels, windows, & most wood trim gone.However, there’s plenty of evidence of its age and could be a remarkable restoration.
This would look great as a single-family home. Keeping my fingers crossed that the buyer will not tear down this building.
Not sure why, but this house doesn’t have the protection of CAR (outside the City O&H District). Hoping that someone with the time, money and skill can renovate this home to look as good as it did in 1937.

I am not aware of a graveyard in this block but in the middle of the next block to the west is a parcel still owned by the City Department of Parks and Recreation. The parcel has always been labeled as the M Street Cemetery. In my research I have never found a record of bodies being moved.

Not to worry folks, as long as the house is under my reign, it will not be demolished. As you know, it is a slow, slow process, I have restored several, so I know what to expect. It will probably be early Spring before any change will be noticed. Until then, I will be dealing with all the historic paper work and gathering historic building materials. I need 6 over 6 window frames ( any condition) if you know of any available ones.
