This has been in Jefferson Park for at least 1-2 weeks. Seems like it was meant to be found, but never was. Didn’t wanna give away it’s actual location.
Or it is meant to be found over and over again?
Wikipedia describe geocaching as “an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, anywhere in the world.”

I have participated in geocaching before and the idea is to find the hidden item and usually there is a logbook so you as a cacher can record you’ve been there. Traditionally there are tokens left in the container for people to take and you as the next finder of said geocache are supposed to leave a token behind for the next person.
So don’t take it out of the park.
It’s a geek thing.
Do not disturb or move it. There are geocaches all over Richmond and the world. You likely pass them all the time. It’s a great way to explore the city. But if you move it, it cannot be found.
And it’s more a family thing than a geek thing.

ok–so last spring, i moved the geocache container a few feet while weeding the “ornamental vegetation area” that hides it. cell service immediately increased 2-dots.

I am planning on leaving something man-made in a natural environment, without being requested to do so.
This mysterious capsule will only appeal to a fraction of a fraction of the population that enjoys that particular outdoor, natural space. There is a high likelihood that it is metal, and should be in a rusted state.
By design, it will remain in place until the breaker of the its location code achieves victory and locates it.
Its contents are meaningless to any outside plebeians who do not understand its purpose. This is a sacred vessel: DO NOT REMOVE IT.
I’ve searched for that on three difference occasions.

If it’s the one I’ve been trying to find, it’s been there for 8 months.
