Church Hill Irish Festival takes over Broad and 25th next weekend
The Church Hill Irish Festival takes over Broad and 25th next weekend (3/21 & 3/22) for two days of music, food, beer, and family-friendly fun (and even a 5K):
n addition to great entertainment, there will be plenty of family fun, including children’s games, face painting and Irish-themed crafts. Over thirty Irish vendors will be in attendance! Food and refreshments will also be available. Enjoy wonderful “Irish Lasagna” prepared by the Ladies of St. Patrick’s, “Fish and Chips” and other favorites provided by Rare Olde Times Irish Pub, and many more.
A huge children’s play area will be sponsored by the great folks from “LINC”.
Proceeds benefit the St. Baldrick’s Society and their fight against childhood cancer, the Church Hill Association, the Church Hill Crime Watch, Richmond Hill, Child Saver’s Clinic of Richmond, St. John’n Church, the St. Peter’s Meals Program, Stone’s Circle of Friends and many other neighborhood causes. Proceeds also benefit the historic preservation of St. Patrick’s Church, a “little church with a big heart” built in the 1850?s by Irish Immigrants to Richmond, and its outreach programs.
A $5.00 donation will be collected at the gate. Sponsored in part by Guinness & Harp Beer and our friends at Loveland Distributing.
We kindly ask that you leave all pets at home. For more information, please email us or call 804-356-1093.
@2 I know right! Still can’t wait! 😀
Agreed on expanding the footprint. I love a good festival, but not having to spoon people while standing. Also “A $5.00 donation will be collected at the gate.”? Let’s just call it what it is. A “donation” is optional or encouraged, & has not been my experience the last few years.
This is one of my favorite events all year. St. Patrick’s has been showcasing our neighborhood to the rest of Richmond for decades, and I have to think it’s in part responsible for a lot of the good things that have happened up here.
@4 Just take Marshall or Main? Don’t plan on getting your parking spot back though…
@6 They probably have to call it a donation, legally. There a lot of weird laws governing charging admission, alcohol, and taxes. They probably get taxed differently because it’s a donation too, because they can function as a non-prof.
I hope people are on good behavior this year and are respectful of fire hydrants, putting trash into the cans, and not taking their potty breaks in yards (looking at you, men.)
Such a wonderful festival. I live on 25th & Broad and every year the church leaves us little notes with friend passes, sometimes a goody bag, to apologize for the parking/noise disturbance during the weekend – these are small prices to pay for such great festivities!
Alley Rally clean up tomorrow Sat at 9:00 am at EDI buliding corner of 25th and Jefferson St., or across the corner from Roosevelt”s and Sub Rosa. Just a reminder of opportunity to volunteer and help clean up the community.
