Man killed on Coalter Street
03/16/2015 4:37 PM by John M
At approximately 2:50 a.m., Sunday, March 15, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Coalter Street. They quickly located the victim, Frizzell Belton, 41, of the 3800 block of Austin Avenue, lying unconscious with a head injury in a breezeway of the building.
He was transported to VCU Medical Center where he died early Monday morning.
This is Richmond’s fourth homicide of 2015, and the 2nd in the East End this year.
That whole area needs to be bulldozed and let’s truck in some rich people to enjoy that view of downtown… and put up a wall so they hide the jail…
@1…couldn’t agree more. Things won’t change until these poverty hotbeds are eliminated.
Its that time of year on Coalter Street… Its nice outside- time for a murder!
A man was just killed and you idiots are talking about changing the area and putting up walls. And NO…it’s not that time of year. Show respect for the deceased and the family. BTW. You ever thought it could have been a member of your family?
Uhm, its the facts of life Lulu. It is that time of year. The crimes and murders will pick up. Just keep paying attention to this page and you will notice also.
Do a search for “chpn.net and coalter street”. All you will see is mutiple occurance off Coalter street with murder and shootings. John M. can you run a statistic of the amount of occurances on coalter?
Usually there is no need for walls, most of these crimes are isolated to those inside the communities they happen (and no one opens their mouths).
Also, I would never let anyone in my family live off Coalter street, so yes I have thought about it.
Lulu, I understand where you are coming from but at the same time there is some truth in what the others are saying. The facts show that crime is higher in low income areas and spike when the weather is warm… more so in the summer when people are irritable from the heat.
@1, why does it have to be rich people? Only rich people can enjoy or deserve a nice view? I know these are “poverty hotbeds,” but I notice how most of the people killed/injured are not from the area of the offense.
Thank you Lulu. How insensitive Cadeho, Jim & Laura. Come on!
If we just have the city dig up Coalter Street, replace it with a big garden and erase it from the maps that would solve everything! I’ll be awaiting my consulting fee shortly.
