The Planning Commission will get a presentation on Short Term Rentals (eg AirBnB) at their next meeting.
The 96-page report (PDF) is a look at the current situation, and what/how the current laws would need to be changed to make short term rentals legal in Richmond:

Not really so timely given that cycling championships are over. But well worth resolving.
In a dense area that’s already mixed use, people should be allowed to rent their property out assuming controls are in place to protect their neighbors from inconsiderate behavior on the part of renters (or make owners liable for this).
