Looking back, one of the most unexpected things that’s happened up here in the CHPN era has to be the election of Keith West to the School Board back in 2006. Nothing near as unexpected as that took place today, but there are some fun bits to find in the numbers anyway.

Incumbent Jennifer McClellan (D) was easily re-elected with 87.53% of the vote in her contest with challenger Steve Imholt (I) for House District 71. Fun fact: McClellan has never received less than 82% in any of her re-election bids.

There 2,198 votes cast in the East End precincts in this contest. There were 7,991 votes cast in the same precincts in the 2012 presidential election.

Precinct McClellan (D) Imholt (I)
701 207 (92.00%) 18 (8.00%)
702 263 (91.64%) 24 (8.36%)
706 523 (94.06%) 33 (5.94%)
707 717 (89.96%) 80 (10.04%)
708 275 (82.83%) 57 (17.17%)

Incumbent Delores McQuinn (D) pulled 98.43% of the votes in uncontested re-election for House District 70, including 100% of the votes in local precincts 703 and 705. The former 7th District School Board Representative and City Council Representative is being mentioned as a possible mayoral candidate next year.

Incumbent Rosalyn Dance (D) was easily re-elected with 73.02% of the vote in her contest with challenger Joe Morrissey (I) for State Senate District 16. Perhaps the most interesting take-away is that Morrissey managed to garner 25% of the vote despite dropping out of the race almost 2 months ago, keeping fuel to the fire on rumors that he’s also interested in a bid for mayor next year.

Precinct Dance (D) Morrissey (I)
701 180 (78.95%) 48 (21.05%)
702 213 (75.27%) 70 (24.73%)
703 214 (77.26%) 63 (22.74%)
705 242 (80.67%) 58 (19.33%)
706 430 (77.48%) 125 (22.52%)
707 680 (86.73%) 104 (13.27%)
708 176 (81.86%) 39 (18.14%)
TOTAL 2,135 (80.8%) 507 (19.2%)
