Planning to consider rezoning on Main Street
01/28/2016 11:48 AM by John M
The agenda for the February 1, 2016, meeting of the Planning Commission includes two local projects:
- ORD. 2015-245 To conditionally rezone the property known as 2801 East Main Street from the M-1 Light Industrial District to the B-5 Central Business District, upon certain proffered conditions.
- ORD. 2015-246 To conditionally rezone the property known as 2825 East Main Street from the [M-1 Light] M-2 Heavy Industrial District to the B-5 Central Business District, upon certain proffered conditions. (As Amended)
Seems to make a lot of sense to me. More density on the BRT corridor is a great thing!
It seems to me that this is just a side door way for the defeated Pear St. project to make another run a taller building!
The B5 zoning will limit the building height to 5 stories – which matches many of the other structures in that area. I agree that it will be good to increase density on the BRT corridor.
I think nothing good can come if we just keep increasing density on an already traffic stressed street. With all the building still to come to the east, it will only get more congested. That is what they need to work on first. Not everybody is going to ride the bus.
Church Hill! Don’t let them fool you. Numbers do lie. But there is truth in engineering. Keep the view shed! Stop the selling of our heritage “down the river” we are NOT Manchester tell them to go to dog town with their ziggarots
