Roaring Pines is now open on Venable Street
Roaring Pines, Richmond’s newest home goods shop and soda fountain, opened quietly Tuesday at Venable and 21st Street. Proprietor Andrew Dayberry says that the shop will be open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 AM – 6 PM at least initially. Warmer weather could bring extended hours once the patio out back is opened up.
The shop stocks a wide variety of American-made goods such as brooms, balsa airplanes, journals, frisbees, extension cords, dustpans, blankets, Lincoln Logs, soaps, bags, candy, and other fun stuff. Half of the room is given over to a counter with stools and a set of soda fountains. Sodas, cream sodas, drinking vinegars, and cold coffees are available by the glass or custom 1/2 growler.
I can pretty much guarantee that you’ve never been into a place like Roaring Pines. The shop is as much a social experience as a retail destination. Roaring Pines is a retail space stocked with American-made goods, and a soda fountain with online sales. It’s earnest and fun, and it’s on Venable Street.

Looks like fun. Can’t wait to check it out.
Ah! Balsa airplanes.
Guess who’s getting a broom for Valentine’s Day?
Do they sell smoke and flame firewood? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBb9O-aW4zI
Looks like fun!
oh the hipsters!
The “hipsters” are doubling down on Made in America goods. While everyone else is buying foreign-made based on price, here’s a store carrying bags, brooms, etc made in America. I type this as I wear jeans made in Richmond, a button down shirt made in California under a plain sweatshirt made in North Carolina.
What a rare treat! I love a mom & pop! Former shop owner, myself. I will be in and passed the word around.
