Dedication ceremony this coming Saturday at Engine Company #1
04/24/2016 7:26 AM by John M
There will be a dedication ceremony at Engine Company #1 (308 North 24th Street) this coming Saturday, April 30, at 2:00 PM.
From Capt. William M. (Mike) Martin:
Engine Company #1 is receiving a new apparatus to replace the 1998 model we are currently assigned. As such, there is a tradition in the fire service to dedicate the new piece of equipment & we are planning on doing so April 30th (Saturday) at 2:00pm. I would like to invite you and all of Church Hill to come by and visit with us for a while; see your newly acquired (and much needed) piece of fire equipment; Maybe have some refreshments (if my sources come through); and allow us to introduce ourselves.
We should potluck some afternoon finger foods for these guys.
Oh, please help as they have no funding from the city for this neighborhood event. They do so much for our area and this would be a most important time to show our support!
Could do what neighbors in Union Hill do annually for First Precinct.
if someone can be the point person I am happy to pitch in.
People in Church Hill are the ones that should provide the refreshments as part of community pride, service, and appreciation.
I don’t think we need to make ths difficult. There is no shift change, so the UnionHill-esque coordination is not necessary. You show up with a plate like it’s your neighbor. Go to costco and get some one-bite brownies. If you bake, bake. If you like peeling carrots, bring come carrots and dip for the kids. This isn’t has-to-go-before-CAR kinda hard.
@ #’s 3 & 4:
Absolutely agree, keep it simple and just give your time or whatever you can bring. I witnessed how much RPD appreciated a big “Thank You” & some food. Guaranteed to give you a warm & fuzzy!
Firemen ,themselves have gotten a cake. Everyone bringing something is a super idea…if you want to donate towards purchase items , just drop off at the firehouse or if they are out, put thru my mail slot. Hoping for lots of children….
How was the ceremony?
