Dog found tied to picnic table in Ethyl Bailey Furman Park

My wife and I found this sweet girl tied to a picnic table in Ethyl Bailey Furman Park. She looks to be a very dark brown lab mix. It definitely looks like she was left on purpose. No collars or tags. She’s getting a bath right now, but we need to figure something out as we definitely cannot keep her.
The dog has been turned over to Richmond Animal Care & Control.
You two are awesome for taking this little girl in and getting her to RACC. They’re good people at RACC. Her life started getting better the minute you two took her leash.
Ditto, bless you for helping out this sweet pup.
I am also grateful for someone taking her in to better her life rather than some seedy person who would only abuse that baby.
We may never know the situation why she was left at the park? Could have been a homeless person’s companion who became ill? Possibly the owner could no longer afford to keep her or had passed and the family hoped someone would find her to take her in? We should not jump to negative conclusions because there are worse scenarios. Just wish they would have left some water for her to drink until she was found and dogs tend to get tangled up on leashes hooked to tables. But depending on how much this park is frequented, it may have only been a short time.
This baby deserves a better life and will make someone a great pet, as rescues often are. Do RACC screen potential owners to make sure they end up in good homes?
