Interested in helping prune along Government Road?

From Chris Harnish:
I am working with Walk-Bike RVA to get a volunteer crew together to clean up, and remove trees on Government Rd Hill east of Chimborazo Park.
This is actually part of a designated bike route, but the road is so narrow near the top due to overgrowth, that cars cannot even drive to the right of the yellow line. We’ve already contacted the city about the work, and I am working on some dates.
However, I would need volunteer help and perhaps extra tools to get the work done on either a weekday or Weekend morning. I’m confident that with 6 or more volunteers the work would only take a few hours max.
If you’re interested, please let me know!
I am interested. Max and Brantley have my contact info. It’s a much-needed task and one that is quite dangerous because of speeding cars so we will need cones and safety vests. Perhaps this could be the first step towards getting a bike lane AND a sidewalk up this hill to Chimborazo Park and Church Hill.
Count me in! I have hand pruners, long-handled loppers, and a chainsaw.
I’m interested, but not this weekend. There’s a tree that’s driving me crazy at the intersection of Government and Glenwood as well. I would love to cut that as well. I have a pair of loppers but my chainsaw is electric 🙁
I reported this to the city’s environmental inspector LAST YEAR before the bike races. I’d be happy if you guys cut it back, and think if you do get it done you should get an award. Or good publicity. Sorry am not physically able to help.
Quick question on a similar topic–> Are there any local tree stewards who could advise on a condition of a certain treewell tree?
@5, yes Trish Bernal. Email her at trishbernal@gmail.com and she should get back to you. She is really involved but there others whose email I do not have, sorry.
How do we contact you Chris Harnish?
I will help, if I can make the dates you select. How will you be removing the copious debris from this project?
I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile. Dates?
If I’m able to attend the date selected, we can use my truck and hull the debris to the landfill off E Richmond Rd and Jennie Scher Rd….correct?
Thanks, #6! Dropped her an email.
Chris, count me in. Please reach out with dates. This weekend I wouldnt be able to thougj.
Love to help!!!
