An aerial view of Richmond, Virginia from above Fulton Hill after “The Saint Patricks Day Flood” of March 1936. The only great flood in Richmond history not caused by a tropical storm or hurricane but rather a combination of heavy rains and rapid snow melt in The Blue Ridge Mountains. The gasometer at Fulton Gas Works, still in use then, can be seen to the middle right side of the photo. credit: The Richmond Times Dispatch.
