This is a new roof
Back in November, we shared out the story of an elderly neighbor who was in dire need of roof repair and was facing legal action because of the code violation. Within an hour, Daniil Kleyman had volunteered to take on the task.
As of earlier this week, she has a new roof – all new plywood, felt, and shingles. Kleyman’s crew did a great job that went beyond the “roof repair” that was initially described.
While this is completely AWESOME, it’s not enough… While she really wants to stay in her home, there is a lot of work that remains to be done to make it truly livable long term. Part of helping her keep her home is making sure that she is able to stay financially sound and reinvest back into her house a little bit at a time.
QUESTION: Anyone know of a non-profit financial counselor that can get together with her, go through her bills, and make a financial gameplan for getting back on track and making sure her bills stay paid?

I volunteered with Senior Connections for a few years as a voluntary money manager/bill payer. More than getting my client’s bills paid on time, I was able to counsel her about taking money out of her checking vs. her savings when she needed something, not paying extortionary fees to her neighbors who “helped” by driving her short distances for high $, and writing to hospitals and health insurance company to get some long-neglected items taken care of. If that’s the kind of help your neighbor needs, I highly recommend someone hooking her up with Senior Connections.
