Demolition continues at old Armstrong
02/22/2017 7:48 AM by John M
After a symbolic groundbreaking back in November, demolition was well underway by December and continues in force.
The new community on 31st Street will be replacement housing for Creighton Court, and will be mixed income, with market rate, work force, and low-income housing. The units would be configured as single-family and multifamily dwellings, with a mix of rental and owner-occupied.
The building was constructed in 1952, and closed after the the 2003/2004 school year when the student body was combined with Kennedy HS.

I’m assuming that this project is going to look similar to the townhouses and apartments on newbridge road off of nine mile in henrico county. Those townhouses and apartments are mixed to low income. The name of those dwellings are called newbrigde, Summerdale, ironbrige, etc. I’m assuming that this is what the city is trying to do and if so, this will be more successful than what happened in Creighton
Correction I meant Viviana hall apartments not ironbridge
Thanks for covering this process. It will be interesting to see how this project progresses.
All that’s left as of 2/23!
