Have you seen Zoey?

From Brian at coybt46@gmail.com:
We’re missing our orange tabby Zoey – we live on Grace between 27th and 28th, we’d love it if you’d post a pic. Thanks!
Not sure how long she’s been missing but there is a FB group called Lost and Found Cats of Virginia that is helpful.
Also, some tips I got when my cat Jack disappeared a few years ago:
-try setting her (dirty) litter box outside, it smells like her so she’ll be inclined to return to it
-best time to look for kitties is late at night when street and foot traffic is low. Bring a flashlight to look behind bushes and under porches. Call softly for her and if you see her, don’t chase her, let her come to you!
-smelly food like tuna or canned mackerel is great to attract them, moreso than dry food or even canned cat food— they’ll smell it from farther away!
-if it gets to a few days, posters are incredibly helpful. That’s how we found Jack after 3 months (someone saw him and remembered seeing a poster)… do a color photo if you can afford it, make sure to include as many details (gender, breed, color, approx weight, other identifying markers) as possible while keeping it easy to read for passers by. We put ours in sheet protectors with the opening facing down (so rain wouldn’t get in) because it was cheaper than laminating, and stapled to telephone poles. Do more within a block or two of where she went missing, fewer further out.
-I got really freaked out reading websites that told me how far a cat can travel in “x” amount of time, thinking that after a week Jack had to be in another state. Truth was, 3 months later, he was less than 4 blocks from me holed up in abandoned house. She probably hasn’t gone too far!!! Don’t worry about posting in locations too far from you.
-finally (and it won’t come to this!!) call Richmond Animal Control every once in a while to see if anyone has picked her up/turned her in…also, they will let you borrow an animal trap you can try to trap her if you think she might be coming around when you’re asleep/away. But I will warn you, I did that and trapped the wrong cat 😉
Good luck! She’ll show up!!
How long as she been missing?
I live near M and 33rd, last week I saw a similar cat hanging out on my patio. I fed her, gave her water but have not seen her since. She was not wearing a collar but was extremely friendly.
If I see her again, I’ll post here.
She’s home
Oh I’m so glad to hear that John, especially with last night’s storm!!
Looks like Zoey’s home. And the cat on our porch was definitely a boy. He’s not there today…. 🙁
