Paint Out Pollution coming to Jefferson Park this Saturday
The Friends of Jefferson Park is proud to announce that 6 of its storm drains will be artistically stenciled on Saturday, November 4th, to discourage placing trash and pollutants into park storm drains.
Paint Out Pollution is a project recently launched by the James River Association and Art on Wheels in partnership with local governments of the Richmond region. The goal of the project is to increase awareness of storm-water pollution and celebrate the native plant and animal species of the James River through storm drain art. Volunteers use stencils and spray paint to install art on storm drains.
The James River Association and Art on Wheels are working with the City of Richmond to plan installation events in Richmond’s East End this fall.
If you so desire, please join the James River Association and Art on Wheels tomorrow morning, November 4th, at Richmond’s Jefferson Park. Please arrive by 9:00 am. After receiving instructions, volunteers will work together to install art on storm drains around parks and public schools in Richmond’s East End.
Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Keep in mind we will be working with spray paint.
