Happy New Year! And please be safe tonight…
12/31/2017 6:06 PM by Gustavo S.
There’s an unfortunate amount of buffoonery (and irresponsible) practice of celebratory New Year’s Eve gunfire. It happened in Richmond, just last year as recorded by John M. Please be careful out there tonight. And if you see something, say something. Call 911. If someone is injured due to celebratory gunfire, the person who fired the gun can face a felony charge.
On that note (sorry) Happy New Year Church Hill! 2018 is going to be awesome, productive, inspiring and we can’t wait to record it alongside you!

TAGGED: New Year's Eve
With the uptick in gunfire in 2017, I suspect it may be more lively than usual tonight. Folks should stay indoors during prime time (11:30-12:30), but be aware that there could the “celebratory shots” before and after that window.
If you notice any leaks in your ceiling in January, check the roof for bullet holes. Many folks have found a few over the years.
The police will definitely be out, but without an exact location, there isn’t much they can do. Still call, but do your best to give details.
If you stay close to the hood u should all ready know nun new
Very active for a good 2 hour period. Lasted til after 1AM. Didn’t bother calling police as there was no way to figure out where it was coming from. Last year was much quieter. Such an irresponsible, stupid way to celebrate.
That’s what you are going with Imani? Really?
This is not an issue unique to Church Hill or Richmond City. Remember 4 years ago a boy was killed in Brandermill on July 4th from celebratory gunfire.
2013 was an odd year; around 1am on New Year’s Day I realized I hadn’t heard any shots. The year following (2014) there were only 4 homicides in the east end (the lowest year on record, I believe).
